Thanks Mike! I appended ".disabled" to the filename of the override file and now I'm able to login with SAML.

Whoa! Blast from the past :-) You should be just able to remove the spring override files which should revert the configuration back to standard and then you should be able to configure SAML in the admin console.

I know this thread is quite old now. I have a request from my client to add SAML authentication. Our on-prem instance is running appiian 18.2 and has the LDAP configured via spring security override files. I believe this is what's causing issues for us when we are trying to test logging in with SAML/EntraID. Is there an updated migration guide link? The above url is no longer valid.

I believe we need to move the LDAP config out of the spring security files and into the admin console to mitigate the SAML auth issue, but that's just a hunch.

Some people use preAuth header for doing SSO such as when they have Oracle OID. How would you do that on admin console? I was only telling to use spring security override in such cases.

That is not a good recommendation. Use of Spring security config files is no longer supported. Sure, if you do it, it *may* work but the OP will be on their own to troubleshoot. There is documentation on how to migrate the configuration to the admin console and that is what is recommended.

ldap configs from 7.6 to 7.11 used to be in spring security files. In 16.x versions, you can do it in two ways: admin console and spring security files again. Easiest way is to do it in admin console under ldap section. If you have SSO going on with spring security override files then i recommend keeping it that way.

As a side note, I think you also have to upgrade to 16.2 as an intermediate step and then to 17.3.

Hi,

In the earlier version the LDAP authentication was stored at the server config files, from 16 on wards you can use the front end to configure the same. You need extract the details from the file "spring-security-03-auth-mgr-override.xml"(from your backup installation) and go to the admin tab and replicate the same.

Was LDAP configured by Appian Support while you were still on 7.6? If so, I recommend reaching out to them to assist in migrating the configurations.
