I tried this approach, It took time to calculate the time remaining. and I feel there could be easier way to get that. Getting to that I'm striving

Hi Shrutig159,
Can you check what is the size of the KC using knowledgecenter(<KC Id>,"size"), i belive this will result the size in bytes and you need to divide it by 1024*1024 to get in MB

As mentioned before, you can figure out the size of the folder by adding up the sizes of the items in the folder. Another option would be to download the knowledge center, and then simply see how large your downloaded file is when uncompressed.

In this case, am still asked to confirm the actual size and how can I achieve that.

Sometimes, if the content of a knowledge center gets too large, the size value can overflow, and that's how you end up with a negative number for the size. At that point, the number isn't necessarily telling you anything conclusive about the size of the folder. However, you could still figure out the size of the folder by adding up the size of its contents.
