Currently, we only have JBoss EWS, but the installation guide references EAP. Is EAP a requirement or can we use EWS? Thanks, Stijn... EWS is just Tomcat and Apache bundled together. We need the application server, either enterprise or community.

RE: Hi,

We are upgrading to 6.6.1 soon, and want to make the switch from

forum.appian.com/.../

Myles mentions here that EAP is needed.

RE: Hi,

We are upgrading to 6.6.1 soon, and want to make the switch from

Clarification, community edition is what ships with Appian out of the box and is not the same as EWS. EWS and EAP also differ in that EWS also has support for the web server aspect.

www.redhat.com/.../
www.redhat.com/.../

RE: Hi,

We are upgrading to 6.6.1 soon, and want to make the switch from

Does that mean that EWS is the same as the community edition that comes with Appian? We have a support contract for EWS, so in that case I think there is no problem in using this version.

RE: Hi,

We are upgrading to 6.6.1 soon, and want to make the switch from

This response in this entry should be relevant to your question:

forum.appian.com/.../

Short answer: Yes, you can use EWS, but Appian does not patch the community edition, as it is not our software.
