For configuring a security domain: What exactly is a data source? For the password to encrypt: Where am I setting that username and password in the first place? I'm not sure what values to enter for those? When running JBoss I keep getting " Access denied: authentication failed" error messages.

I replaced my appian-ds.xml with the content provided in what you attached.

I updated: <xa-datasource-property name="serverName">SERVER_HOSTING_MYSQL</xa-datasource-property>

How do I enlist the correct security domain, for each data source element? I don't know what that means? Please explain in detail...

To list the data sources in the custom.properties do I just need to copy and paste what you provided anywhere into that file?

Charles,

In your appian-ds.xml, replace everything with the elements from the Documentation.

I've attached the appian-ds.xml.example file for you. Within this, all you need to do is add the servername that is hosting the MySql instance, the database name and enmsure that you enlist the correct security domain, for each data source element.

Once you've configured that, you need to list the data sources in the custom.properties under runtime_ear/suite.ear/conf (if you are using the ACM) as:
conf.data.primary.datasource=jdbc/PrimaryDataSource
conf.data.datasources=jdbc/BusinessDataSource

You will also need to ensure that you add the security domain for the data sources correctly in the standalone.xml

That fixed that issue I guess. Went back in a circle though. Now I'm getting this error in the log file:

This is configured in the appian-ds.xml correct? I've tried following the directions here:

but they're very confusing. What exactly to I need to update/change in appian-ds.xml? I don't understand what jndi-name is or does and I don't understand what pool-name is or does?

Charles, it looks like Jboss did not star up correctly.

This is the relevant ERROR in the starup log.

I would recommend using an older version of the MySql JDBC Connector and then try that again. You will need to replace it with the existing one in <JBOSS_HOME>\\modules\\com\\mysql\\jdbc\\main and also make the appropriate change in module.xml file present in the same location to list the modified JAR.

Let me know if that works.

I think I fixed the issue with the data source properties (the errors you pointed out before aren't showing up anymore) but something else has come up that I don't know how to fix and don't see documentation for. Please see attached <JBOSS_HOME>\\standalone\\log

The appian-ds.xml has the incorrect values for the database properties. You will have to fix those.

You need to configure the data sources properties as per:

Running as administrator did the trick! check engine output attached. But ... now I have a different problem. I started jboss but appian isn't available? Where should I start to resolve this issue?

Can you attach the complete output of the check engine script? It looks like the engines started correctly this time.

From the screenshot, it doesn't look like you are starting the engines as "Administrator".

You need to close the command window and reopen the command window as an "Administrator". Can you try that?

Charles, can you do a completely fresh install of Appian 7.5 (ensure that the path to the APPIAN_HOME directory doesn't have any white spaces in it), deploy the license file and try to start the engines.

Do not make ANY other changes to the installation (running the build etc).

Do not configure JBoss or any other application-server either.

Are you able to start the engines with a clean out-of-the-box installation using the start-suite.bat script?

If you have a gateway-config-custom.xml, Appian will read the over-ride file and ignore the bast Product file. It seems like you still have a misconfiguration in the gateway-config-custom.xml.

Can you rename the gateway-config-custom.xml to gateway-config-custom.xml.bak and try to start the engines please?

I modified gateway-config.xml and gateway-config-custom.xml from the original text to the modified listed below.
