Thank you everyone for the suggestions and answers, after I changed the password for search server user to a very long one actually resolved the issue.

Probably you fotgot to copy one of the properties file when upgrading.

Did you also copied these ones?

conf/data-server-sec.properties
data-server/conf/data-server-sec.properties

My suggestion is double checking spelling and casing of the two new configuration properties, and also make sure their values match exactly. If that's all good, you might need to open a support case.

All are up and running. When I start my search server after setting the password.properties and search-server/conf/custom.properties, I am now getting this error.

Can you check services, data server and search server status please?
