In custom.properties, make sure to update the server and port with the FQDN of your machine. I would not think this is localhost. There may be other things, but this is the first thing that jumped out at me.
Also, if you are using the configure script, I would expect the ds and properties file to have a .local or .dev on the end of the name to match the environment you register.

Hi, since you guys were so helpful to Christine, I'm hoping maybe you can help me as well. I'm trying to do a local install of 16.1, using mySQL, on my Booz Allen laptop . It's been a bit of a uphill battle since I don't have admin privileges in Windows, but instead have to use this software called PowerBroker to elevate my rights on every single click or install step. I don't know if my problem is related to that or not, but I can't get JBoss to start. Attached is the suite.ear.failed file and the app server log in case those are helpful in troubleshooting. (I certainly don't understand the errors in them.) I've also attached the files you requested from Christine. Please let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to upload. Thanks in advance!

Awesome, I run into this issue if I start it up, and then run into some error (bad password, etc) and it fails to connect to the db on the first try. have to delete the file before trying it again.

1. I took them out because of what it said in the product docs:
Note: The standalone.xml deployed by the configure script contains the H2 datasource and driver configuration that are shipped by default with JBoss. These can be optionally removed from the standalone.xml.<your_environment> in your configuration repository prior to deploying to JBoss.

2 questions about the standalone.xml. \\

1.)The docs say the H2 data source driver is optional, but all of my local instances have left it in. Any changes with that driver added?
2.) Can you change "ds-name-security-primary" password to plain text (for testing only) to see the password encoding is correct?

First issue I see in app server log is: Could not find datasource: jdbc/appian_primary.
if you see something with the search server, if that isn't because of the first failure, any idea how to resolve?

check to make sure you don't have a rogue appian-mysql-ds.xml.failed or some other marker file that is preventing the deployment. Can just delete that file
