Cannot request SAML Assertion for SBAF Authorize Click since user is not valid for SBAF

When user logs in using SAML, they face 403 access denied error. We checked the users ID and they have the required access levels. When checked on tomcat-stdout logs we see the following issue 'Cannot request SAML Assertion for SBAF Authorize Click since user is not valid for SBAF'. Any leads on this?

Case Management Studio Portal Issue

Having an issue when attempting to configure cmgt studio portal module.

Errors are:

Facing issue while deploying to PROD

I am deploying a package to PROD in Appian. One object got depkoyed while other couldn't as deployment completed with errors. When I checked the log, it said the particular object is open. But thing is the object isn't open anywhere. Besides, i also logged out and logged in once to check but still, deployment was failing for the particular object and it is saying the object is being edited by me.

Daylight Saving Time changes for UK

We switch our primary timezone from GMT to GMT+1 in the Appian admin console during UK daylight saving time.

In the application, we display all dates using a text() function, like this:

However, as soon as the timezone is updated in the admin console, the displayed date values shift according to the new timezone. This causes the date and time shown in the UI to change even though the stored datetime has not changed.

Is there any way to keep the displayed date consistent regardless of timezone changes?

SAML retain casing

Hi,

in our environment the IdP changed some usernames from lowercase to uppercase. Appian configured for SAML authentication with "Retain Casing" option, returns error code 401. Do you have any experience that the configuration option at docs.appian.com/.../SAML_for_Single_Sign-On.html
can resolve the issue, and can these changes be made hot or do some services need to be restarted?

High Memory Usage - DEV site

We’re experiencing recurring high memory usage in our Appian Cloud DEV environment that is leading to emergency restarts. This typically occurs outside of normal development hours, when there is little to no active user activity.

As part of troubleshooting, we have:

Cleared all processes that had stopped due to exceptions
Removed older versions of process models and interfaces
Reviewed for obvious runaway process instances
Reviewed guidance in KB-2011

Despite this cleanup, the memory spikes continue.

Has anyone encountered similar behavior in a DEV environment with low user activity? If so:

Were scheduled processes, integrations, or unattended background jobs the root cause?
Are there specific logs or metrics in Appian Cloud that are most helpful for identifying memory drivers?
Does exporting and removing older, inactive applications from DEV meaningfully reduce memory consumption, or is memory primarily driven by actively executing objects?

Any guidance on deeper diagnostics or best practices for isolating memory usage in Appian Cloud would be greatly appreciated.

LDAP/Active Directory Synchronization

Hi team, I have a question. I have an issue concerning the user license count and was under the impression that some users may have been inadvertently reactivated without anyone manually doing it. Since, we use LDAP sync, if a user is re-enabled in the Active Directory (AD), the next LDAP sync process in Appian will detect this change and automatically reactivate the user account in Appian.

Anyone have any experience with this issue on how we can stop LDAP from reactivating users?

I'm using the primary key of the each record as target ,I configured the update as record action, and I cannot delete the existing record because that Id is used as main request id since the record is created with document upload.

Deployment issue with synchronized records with integration

I am trying to deploy an application that contains records synchronized with integration. This is the first deployment of the application, and I am using the compare and deploy option. When creating the package, all elements of the application are included, but not the records synchronized with integration. The records are in the application, as are the calls to the synchronization services. However, these elements are not included. I have tried adding them to the package after the option appears, but when I check again, it still indicates that the elements are not included.
What could be the problem, and how could it be solved?

Monitor Disk, Memory and CPU usage metrics through logs in Appian Cloud environment

Hi Everyone,

We are looking for the ways to monitor the Disk, Memory and CPU usage metrics through logs in Appian Cloud environment and send alerts if it reaches certain thresholds. I know Appian Support will notify us through a support ticket when certain threshold reaches, but we would like to have our own monitoring and automated alerts before Appian Support creates the ticket to act on it immediately. Also, we know that we can monitor these metrics through Appian Support portal which is not an efficient way as this needs to be monitored manually during our entire business hours.

If we have these logs, we wanted to get them to our Splunk logs and create the alerts accordingly when a particular metric reaches certain thresholds which will reduce the manual effort and can respond on time. So please let me know if anyone implemented this kind of feature in your Appian Cloud space.

User Start Page going to tempo when it is not set as tempo

Hi,

I am having an issue where if I log out of an environment and log back in again, the screen I am presented with is tempo as opposed to the site page that I have configured in the user start pages section of the admin console. There are no other pages (tempo included) configured in the admin console except for the one that I want. I have tried removing all users from the tempo users group but that does nothing.

This is happening for all users. I don't know of any other way to configure user start pages other than the tab in the admin console.

Does anyone know anything about this and any way to fix it? It is going to be an issue for end users in a live system where we do not use tempo at all.

Hi all,

We want to restrict the drop table and truncate table privileges to certain users in certain schemas.

I'm aware of the documentation strategy for restricting write or admin permissions:

We need to go finer here, not that radical. We have designers maintaining our PRO environment, we need them to write into the DB (as they may need to fix incidents) but we want to prevent them running more "hardcore" commands, like drop or truncate.

I've also looked at the Appian admin stored procedures, to see if we can do anything similar to the normal "grant" dba commands, but I've been unable to find anything useful.

Any advice?

My use case is: I receive a dynamic Excel file from the user each time, with changing column names, different sheet numbers, and a large amount of data. I need to insert this data into the database and display it in the interface. I tried Excel-to-DB, but it doesn’t work dynamically. I also tried using AI to extract data from Excel, but I’m not able to extract all sheets dynamically. What should I try?

Thank you for your earlier advice on saving logs at application startup.

As we approach the production phase of the system, I am attempting to deploy from the development environment to the testing environment, but I am encountering an import error with the aforementioned logging output application.

It indicates that there is a problem with the baseURL in the connected system, but I do not see anything particularly wrong.

Is there anything specific I should check?

What I'm concerned about is that this application connects to a Web API within my server, and it's authenticated with a security account. The security account for the testing environment has not yet been created; could this be a factor?

Does anyone have additional context on the reasoning behind these recommendations? My client has hard data segregation needs and plans to use multiple schemas to address them, but we want to know more about what problems we might expect to run into. We're using the cloud database.

The biggest issue reported to me so far had to do was a problem around using compare and deploy to update stored procedures (ones that reference multiple schemas), but they found a manual workaround to mitigate that issue. I'm curious if there's any other notable issues that can be expected or if there's any loss of other capabilities we're unaware of at this time.

Deployment API v2 Connected System failing Authentication in lowest environment

This may be an odd request, but can I call deployments api v2 in the lowest environment (dev) to get the export log files associated with a package?

I ask because in Admin->Infrastructure, we have enabled incoming and outgoing external deployments only for our 'next' environment (SIT), and adding new environment doesn't allow self-reference.

My connected system seems to be failing and suspect that enable incoming / outgoing is only set for 'SIT' environment.

The motivation for the ask is to grab the export logs of a package at the dev level to load in unexported precedents for further processing.

I'm planning to run a nightly process that will see if any new application has been created for the past 24 hours, and then send notification with some instructions to the person who created the new application.

is there a way to detect these new application containers? any plug-in I can utilize?

We self manage Appian on Kubernetes, so we have access to logs and Appian metadata.
