Best viable solution, though time taking in reviewing and deleting manually in my experience. Avoids dependency errors as well as erroneous deletions in general.

First, for db objects prepare scripts successfully and then you can run them all together at one go. Once db objects are deleted, For Appian objects - I would suggest to add the objects carefully to a separate package which you want to delete - then review contents so that nothing relevant gets deleted and lastly delete the artifacts until package is empty.

Hi team,

We're struggling the the disk usage of our training environment as it's reaching its full capacity, there are several applications that can be deleted completely. However, there's no bulk deletion of applications including its contents, out-of-the-box.

Do you know any easier way to perform these deletions?

P.D.: We would like to delete the DB objects (tables, views, etc) related to these applications as well.

We initially tried multiple automated/scripted approaches, but after spending considerable time we realized manual deletion per application would have been faster and given us better control over exactly what gets deleted.

It seems this smart service works with Folders such as Knowledge centers or any other documents folder, not with Rule or Process Model folders.

You can try using the Delete Folder Contents smart service for objects stored in a folder. You will still need to manually delete a few objects such as CDTs and Records, but this approach will reduce the overall time required.

Tables and views are easier to handle if you run a SQL query to identify objects containing your keywords, and then delete the corresponding tables and views in bulk.
for example: select TABLE_NAME,COLUMN_NAME from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS where COLUMN_NAME like '%LOG%' order by TABLE_NAME

A,D and E is correct options.

B - Group sync isn't an Attribute Mapping option; it's handled separately (not via SAML assertions).
C - It's a login/session convenience setting, not profile sync.

Unable to find internal error code list as admin

Hi Appian Community,

I’m currently investigating Appian internal errors (APNX) in an Appian Cloud environment.

I found a KB-1107 that references ErrorCode*.properties files under a path like:

<APPIAN_HOME>/ear/suite.ear/resources/text/java/com/appiancorp/suiteapi/common/exceptions

The issue is that, even though I have administrator permissions in my Cloud environment, I can’t find any way to access that error code list or those files.

I’d like to ask if anyone in the community can help clarify this:

Is there any customer-accessible list of internal error codes for Appian Cloud environments?
Is there any way to review those codes without filesystem access to the server?
Has anyone worked with those property files or found a useful reference for support/troubleshooting?
When Appian only shows an issue identifier, is there any public reference to interpret or map it?

I’m not trying to expose anything sensitive, just trying to understand the correct approach in Cloud for reviewing or interpreting these codes.

Active Directory Synchronization

Appian Experts,

I have a question regarding AD Synchronization. We have our SAML setup to "Update user attributes upon sign in". This works perfectly fine when a user is Added/Removed from a specific entitlement in AD that is mapped to a group on Appian and that users logs in to Appian.

However, the issue arises if the users is removed from an entitlement in AD group and he never logs in again to Appian. The user remains part of the group and get task assigned till someone manually removes the user from the group in Appian.

I am pretty sure a lot of us here in the Community has encountered this situation. Can any suggest an automated way to Sync the users in AD to the groups in Appian w/o logging in.

Thank you, Harsha. Agree with you and we do group assignment as a best practice. We get into trouble when there is an access audit and there is discrepancy between AD and Appian groups. Will explore the API route.

Its good that assignment is to the group and not the user directly. To remove the users automatically a daily scheduler process will be most appropriate. Check existence of each group member against AD group and if they are not found remove them from the group using Remove Group Member Smart Service in process model.

SAML group sync only works when a user logs in. There is no built-in SAML feature to sync without login.
Use a scheduled process model to call Azure AD/MS Graph API and fetch the latest group memberships, then remove users from Appian groups if they are no longer present in AD.

Hi All,

We are upgrading Appian servers from 7.6 to 17.2, so as per Forum documentation we have upgraded our servers to intermediate version 7.11 and after that we migrated to 17.2.

Now, the issue is when we migrated from 7.6 to 7.11 the LDAP configurations were present, but when migrated from 7.11 to 17.2 they are missing.

Please help us in configuring LDAP for 17.2, if possible, please guide us in identifying the path where these configurations are present in 7.6 version

Whoa! Blast from the past :-) You should be just able to remove the spring override files which should revert the configuration back to standard and then you should be able to configure SAML in the admin console.

I am unable to log in using Basic User accounts in my Appian Cloud environment, while admin accounts are working fine.

I have verified that the users are active and have the required group memberships. Password reset was also attempted, but the issue persists.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or can suggest what configurations or logs I should check?

I’d suggest checking the issue in the following sequence:

Check the login-audit.csv file for failed login attempts.
Compare the entries of a working admin user with a failing basic user.
Verify whether any authentication restriction groups are configured and confirm the affected users are part of those groups.
Check for username case mismatches between Appian and the authentication provider.
Temporarily assign the System Administrator role to one affected user and test login again.
Try accessing directly using:
- /suite/portal/login.jsp
- /suite/design
If the issue still persists, raise an Appian Support ticket with:
- affected usernames
- login timestamps
- extracts from login-audit.csv
- relevant entries from authz-audit.log

Hello,

We experienced an issue where an application deployed to the production environment did not work correctly.

After investigation, we found that the process failed because a required user group was missing. We further checked deletion.log and found that the deployment service account appears to have deleted the group.

Log excerpt:
2026-05-29 10:18:57,597 [http-nio-8080-exec-28] INFO com.appiancorp.common.logging.DeleteLogger - Successful deletion of objects: id=3126; types=group; names=["xxxx"]; deleted by user=[xxxx].

However, we could not find any deployment record corresponding to this timestamp.

My question is:
Is there a way to trace the actual operation performed by the deployment user account, even if there is no deployment record at that time?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you for your guidance.

Based on your comment, we investigated further and were able to identify the root cause.

We found the Delete Group smart service that deleted the target group. We also understood that, when a process model is configured to Run as designer, it will be executed under the deployment account if the app is imported with that account, which helped us narrow down the issue.

As a precaution, we checked the setting again and confirmed that the process model was configured as Run as initiator, not Run as designer. This seems to differ from what we observed in the logs, but for now we will consider the issue resolved.
