When downloading, you can type whatever name and extension you want (and if it forces you to keep the extension, you can open the folder you downloaded it to and then change it there). You'll need to disable the stupid Windows default feature "hide file extensions", though IMHO everyone should have disabled that option already, since it's dangerous and useless.

That's not support. And IMHO, removing the extension also makes no sense.

Why remove the extension? Do you mean you need a different extension? If this is the case, just create your template with the extension you need.
