When creating the interface, you only need to specify the name.. After that, when you are working on it, you can specify the variables in the upper right panel of the page.

Are you seeing some error on the screen while creating the variables or its just that it is not reflecting on the screen?

Please share the error details if available or any kind of behavior that you observe on the screen.

sowmyak2554 Can you provide more detail about interface and variable. Snapshot or code snippet would be better.
Still you can check this basics:-
Inputs defined with matching names (case-sensitive)?
Are you trying to use them within the interface itself (their scope)?
Did you assign values to them before use?
