You need to double check if you deleted the CDT from the Datastore. Because it is possible that it is still referencing it.

Cdt is still in environment but it gives error to delete

Hello Snehal,

I replicated the issue, and was able to create the CDT with same name post DELETION.

Request if you can check, whether the object was deleted, as Appian would NOT allow multiple objects with same namespace( the UUID used for identifying object across environments would prevent that).

If that CDT is deleted, you should be able to create another CDT that has the same name

Couple of question here:

Did you delete the CDT Permanently or have you just removed this CDT from your APP?
Also, why do you want to Delete the CDT instead of modifying it?
Did you try changing the namespace while creating this CDT newly? if you did not try this approach, then i would recommend to give it a try.

Hope this will help you to identify the root cause and resolve this issue.

As all other Co-practitioners mentioned , we can delete a CDT and create a new one with same name , once the existing CDT is deleted from the Appian Environment

We can delete the CDT and can create again with the same name. No restriction from Appian to create CDT with same name if that CDT is deleted.

check that CDT is begin deleted form the respective environment and then try again to create with same name.

Hi Sneha

We can create a new CDT with the same name after deleting the CDT.
I think you have not deleted the CDT but removed for the application package.

To know that your CDT has been removed or deleted,
1. Open the environment.
2. Click on the Objects tab.
3. Select CDT filter and search the CDT which you have deleted.
4. If the CDT is being shown to you then it means CDT has not been deleted, it has been removed for the particular application.

What is the error that you are seeing when you try to create the data type again? Did you try to check what @Harish mentioned?

Hi snehalh,
Its always possible to delete the cdt and create a new one with the same name.
I guess you might have removed the CDT from the application and the CDT still exists in the Appian environment. Thus Appian will not allow the Object to be created with the same name.
To confirm this just go to any of your applications and select the option Add existing objects and add this CDT to your application. Then you can delete the CDT and you can create a new one with the same name.
