There are actually 2 other ways an answer can get "confirmed". Community admins (Appian employees) can mark an answer as correct. Additionally, an answer can be confirmed if enough community members mark it as "helpful".

I wondered why some answers that people had said helped were still orange, while some were green. The key is that the OP decides the green one, which I got to see for myself just now! Thanks for the help.

When replying the responding practitioner can select a checkbox that says "Suggest as Answer", that response gets highlighted in orange indicating that it is a possible solution/answer. And when OP (Original Poster) accepts the answer then it turns green.

This is makes it easier for other practitioners to find the answers easily instead of going thru all the replies.
