Since Communities are being deprecated and Appian suggests to move older implementations away from Communities, how do we move Knowledge Centers OUT of a Community? This is not a documented action by Appian despite its suggestion.

Thank you for all your input. I had missed the release notes of 16.3.
We are moving from Appian 7.6 to 17.1 (and now 17.2), so there is quite a bit of catching up to do through all these versions.

As per my understanding, as of now you should go for KC followed by the document folders structure, but do not make the use of Community as it is deprecated and
In upcoming version of Appian it is going to be remove. For more details you can refer the link mention by Eliot

Communities were deprecated with the release of Appian 16.3. Please see forum.appian.com/.../Appian_Release_Notes.html

You can create KC without community in Appian. But it is a best practice to leverage Appian capability. As mentioned in the Appian Documentation, Document Management is a fully-integrated collaboration solution. Meaning when you place KC under Community, you can see features like, Subscribe and Unsubscribe and you do more with less work from developer point of view.
