I guess we need to understand passwords for users who login to the system as well as passwords for other places in the application.

RE: How are passwords storred in Appian

Thank you @Rama

RE: How are passwords storred in Appian

While installing Appian environment, we have to provide at least one database schema and generally it acts as the primary data store.

If you have database access, you can easily access in on-premise and check respective database tables

Create a support case to cloud environment access/database details.

RE: How are passwords storred in Appian

@kondetiv
Hi,
I would like to know from where we can access Appian Primary database in on-premise?
Is there any way that we can access Appian Primary database on cloud?

Thanks

RE: How are passwords storred in Appian

as @josh mentioned password converted to some hash value using some hashing algorithm. We can see those hash values in Appian primary database under table user or usr. We can open Appian primary database if you are in on-premise only but not on the cloud. As cloud does not show up primary database.

RE: How are passwords storred in Appian

According to docs.appian.com/.../Appian_Administration_Console.html

"Appian hashes passwords using an industry standard hashing algorithm and only stores the hashed values of passwords. When passwords are entered, they are similarly hashed using the same algorithm, and the result is compared against the stored value."
