Our system is basically to send the files which are uploaded in the Appian screen by the end user has to be moved to a CMIS system for example documentum.
Now my question is...
Is there a way without saving the file in Appian document repository

RE: Migrating Documents to External CMIS system

Yes, you must store the document in Appian knowledge center before uploading to any external system, and can delete the document once after receiving the success status.

Now when we talk about uploading the document to external systems, there are some constraints which we need to take under consideration:

There some external systems, which will not allow you to transfer bulk of files at anytime to their system, in order to maintain the performance of their System, and will provide some fixed hours, and we need to upload these bulk of documents during those hours only, hence transferring these documents immediately to an external system will not be the best choice always, and hence we have to upload these documents in appian knowledge center (which is nothing but mandatory as well) and then upload them to external system.

Hope this will help

RE: Migrating Documents to External CMIS system

You could add a step to the process model to delete the document after the push to the remote system.

RE: Migrating Documents to External CMIS system

You could add a step to the process model to delete the document after the push to the remote system.

RE: Migrating Documents to External CMIS system

alright so we cannot use the Appian layer as a surfacing layer which will put my document directly in the destination location.

RE: Migrating Documents to External CMIS system

No, the document must first go into the Appian document repository.
