I have tried the online training for SAIL. It was informative. Perhaps it is my learning style, I feel that practice is the best way to learn for me.

Hi,
Congratulations on your completion of Analyst exam.
Below are few points which I can suggest:
1. Community content is of great help to further explore all the contents of Appian.
2. TO get a good hands on, I would suggest to get started with a sample application so as to get versed with all the concepts. When you are clear in your development, try taking more complex scenarios for your practice.
3. When working on sample application, have a tab on APPIAN BEST PRACTICES in all the relevant areas which would really be helpful.
4. Finally, performance tuning methods is what I would suggest you should go through.

SAIL Recipes will help you in gaining knowledge on configuration and implementation.
Appian academy tutorials will help you in understanding re-usability of SAIL interfaces.

Regarding your query about the SAIL, you can follow the below mention approaches / links to understand and explore SAIL more:

Explore Interface / SAIL Recipes to understand how SAIL Works, this has various scenarios and their implementation in SAIL
Explore UX Design Guide to understand Do's and Dont's in SAIL and various other useful information about the UX
Go through the SAIL / Designer Videos available in Appian Academy
Once you are done with all these then start your own practice, by considering various scenarios and designing the UI according to that.

The Interface Designer provides a really nice way to learn SAIL because you can start with drag-and-drop components and then use different functions and expressions to help control how the interface components behave. Big Congratulations to you for Clearing Analyst Credential Exam. Hope You are planning for Designer too now. Wish you all the very best for the Designer Exam.

Regarding SAIL :
SAIL is like.."Tell us what you want your UI to do — we’ll handle the rest:.
We need to be very clear on the Components/interface how it looks like and what we want, where we want exactly etc..
Advantages which i see :
Appian UIs are created from functions that describe the state of the UI at any point in time.
Data propagation changes are automatic and implicit. There are no manual updates of the UI.
Side effects can only be triggered by user interactions as part of a unidirectional data flow.

Practice.
Think of something you'd like to do, and try to do it. Keep a browser tab open to the Appian documentation and browse the different interface components, expression functions, etc, and pay attention to new things you see. If you're stuck on something search in Community to look up past threads on the same subject, since usually there will be a few with code examples.
