Hi Vishnu,

Here are my inputs to answer your 2nd question "2. Best practices/approach for migrating data in old application " :

1.Request you to refer the release notes of the Old & New platforms on the deprecated and removed features.
2.Make sure that you are not using any deprecated features. If you are using it i think you need to modify your code and configuration.
3.Once you do this, i suggest to do complete testing on new environment(Ex 18.2).
Suppose if you are upgrading 7.x to 18.3 , hope you are aware 18.3 use Tomcat Server and 7.9 is on JBOSS.

Hi Vishnu,

Answer to your fist question, There is no such best practices are available from taking an application from one technology/tool to Appian. All we have to consider is the what is the application functionality which was developed in the old technology (like, java or .net and blah, blah, blah...). We can consider the Appian best practices while implementing the code. this you can get information from the knowledge base. You can try find this thing to compare other application migration to BPM/Case management (You can get this information from google).

Coming to your second question, It is depend on the existing DB and the new DB that you want to switch.

What tool are you migrating from? For example, the approach from migrating from MongoDB to MySQL will be very different than Oracle to MySQL
