I was executing in both ways.
Both worked. Only the original doesn't work.

Hi,

I think there is a blank column in the template that the Customer has shared with you.

Could you please copy whole excel content into new file and check if it is executing correctly?. By whole excel content, I mean ctrl+a and then copy to new sheet and execute. I think you are copying only those columns which you need in excel sheet and pasting it into new one, Is that so? Please confirm.

I ensured that no hidden columns are there.Also i was able to to see that if i simply copy the excel to a new one then it works

Just check your excel template. The columns should be as per your CDT elements. Make sure that no hidden cell is there.
Also, for multiple row entry, make sure your CDT type variable is multiple. Thanks

That means there are additional columns in your source excel. Try again with selecting all blank columns and delete.

I am getting error as “Array out of bound exception” .The node fails with a red cross.

If possible please provide more details of your error. "not working " means what ? Appian throwing any error or something else.

When you say "not working", what exactly do you mean? Are you getting an Appian error message? Are you getting any errors in the logs? Is it simply that no data is returned? Please provide screenshots wherever applicable.
