If you do not have access to the Admin Console then you need to contact one of your System Admin users who should have.

If you do have access to the Admin Console then you're looking for the link that is highlighted

and then there is a button labelled Deploy New Plug Ins on the top right hand section of the screen - then you can search by Plug In name - Excel Tools - click the link and then click Deploy.

If you do not have the plug in installed in your Appian environment then you cannot access any of the Excel Tools Smart Services.

I'm also a cloud user but we don't have the option of Plug-ins via the admin console. Also, could you tell me how to use the excel smart service without having access to the plug-ins?

I'm a cloud customer of Appian so we have access to Plug Ins via the Admin Console. If you're not a Cloud user then this article in the Appian Help documentation might help.

I don't remember installing the plug-in at the first place. I guess that's the mistake I've made. Could you help me with how to install the plug-in?

If you cannot see this path in Designer view then I'd suggest reinstalling the plug in

Okay. Should I be using the analyst view or designer view to access the same. Also, the Smart service options are available on your palette right (under Integration service)?

Hmm we're running the latest version of Excel Tools Plug in and I can see the Smart Service under Integration Tools --> Excel Tools --> Import Excel to Database.

Alright, thanks. But I can't find the Import Excel to DB Smart Service option too. I have no way to import an excel file using the smart services available to me. Could you suggest me what to do?

That Smart service has been deprecated if you check the version history of the Excel Tools plug in.

- Added Import Excel to DB Smart Service
- Added LOAD CSV to DB Smart Service - fast CSV import for MySQL database that are not hosted on Appian Cloud
- Import CSV to DB can now decrypt EncryptedText fields (for importing into external DS)
- Deprecated CDT to/from Excel, Export Report, Export Excel Servlets (existing use will continue to work)

I guess one pattern might be to use the Import option from Excel to Database, and then read the Database in batch sizes to achieve the same outcome.
