You don't need to purchase a license but you will need to request it from Appian Support and provide justification.

You develop using the SDK (with whatever tools you use usally to develop Javascript). You deploy and test in your local Appian Instance.

You don't need to publish in the App Market, you can also ask Appian Support to deploy it to your instance only.

If I have an Appian Cloud license, do I still need to purchase a local license?

And where can I work when developing custom components in Appian Cloud?
And do I need to apply to use custom components even if they are not published on the app market?

You can if you develop a custom component.

To test your component before submitting it to Appian you will need to install Appian locally.

I would like to use the Java Script API to display a video on another system with an interface.
The API for embedding videos is prepared by another system.

In this case, is it impossible to achieve with Appian Cloud?

By the way, the reason we don't use the existing video component is that we can't limit downloads.
Even with the video component (URL below) provided as a plug-in, it was not possible to completely restrict it.

You can use install approved components from the App Market from the admin console.

If you want to develop your own component, then you need to follow the steps outlined above.

You'll need an on-prem Appian instance to test your plugin. It can be installed on a server or your local machine.

You'll need access to the installation binaries (if you don't already have access via MyAppian). You can do this via Appian Support.

As part of the install, you'll also need a license which you'll need to request via Appian Support as well.
