Not if you use the UI components I mentioned above, the files are uploaded directly to the cloud storage provider (without going through Appian) and are not subject to the 1GB limit.

Como opciones para eso, serian factibles la creacion de un web component en el propio appian, o bien usar un webCOntentField para mostrar una interface o site externo que te permita hacer la subida de documento al repositorio que sea necesario.

We currently integrate with sharepoint by making use of the REST services exposed by the sharepoint API. We do not use the connected system. In our case it is sharepoint online.

This is not possible, because appian has a limit in the uploadfile component, if it is more than 1 GB, you get an error in the interface, so you cannot send from an appian interface a file bigger than 1 GB.

Our use case , uses building plans with .cad extension , they are viazualized in AutoCAD , that's why they are so heavy , that's why every time a case is created , they attach the files of the building plans . I am not sure if there is a way to split those files into smaller files or if it is possible to do a chunked file transfer, I have never seen it in appian.

You would integrate Appian with the chosen cloud storage service's API to enable users to upload files directly from the Appian interface to the cloud storage.

As an aside - do you happen to know whether the linked Sharepoint tool and Connected System require Sharepoint Online like the Appian OOB version does? My company has been asking me how we'll integrate sharepoint but we don't have a compatible cloud version.

I haven't - from a quick google it's suggested that it might be enabled via the addition of some 3rd-party service that handles the ultimate transfer of files from FTP to sharepoint. There may be other easier ways too, I'm not sure.

Users are regularly needing to attach files that are > 1 GB?!? That seems incredible. Is there no way to streamline that file size? What do the files contain??

I'm talking about splitting them on the user-end prior to Appian upload. Like via creating multi-part ZIP archives or something else along those lines, if streamlining of the file sizes is impossible for you. That being said, the first thing I'd look into is reducing the original file sizes - 1 GB seems overboard for almost any use case I can think of, other than if users need to upload movie-length video files for some reason.

For scenario 1, why can't you upload the files to Sharepoint via Angular and then send the Sharepoint file IDs in your Appian API request?

Estoy de acuerdo contigo en que en appian se deberia trabajar con las referencias a los documentos externos , pero sigo ver como el usuario nos va a subir el fichero. Piensa que es un usuairo que accede mediante vpn a appian y se le muestra un formulario en appian para que adjunte la documentacion , la unica manera que conozco es con uploadfile y esta limitado a un GB.

This could be an option for scenario 2, let's try it.

For scenario 1 I still don't see a valid option, because the appian api limits the size of the files you receive, therefore, the file from angular to appian would never arrive.

Buenas Raul, creo que en ambos escenarios, lo ideal es que trabajarais con la referencia a los ficheros mas que con los ficheros en si.

EN el segundo escenario, igual podeis usar las funciones getfolderbybname y getdocumentsforfolder para obtener el nombre de los documentos y montar dinamicamente la llamada al SFTP

I'm not clear if SFTP can be used to drop files on Sharepoint, have you ever done it?

2) How often do users have to attach a file larger than 1GB, is there a possibility to split the files first?

Users will attach these files every time they create a case, it is a relatively small volume. How could I split the files in Appian, I have searched for information and I can't find it.

For scenario 1, the idea we have is as shown in the image.

We have users who are not part of the company and therefore do not have a user in the active directory and cannot connect to the client's VPN. This means that they do not have an Appian user, but we need them to agree to leave us documentation that is over 1 GB in size. For this we have thought of making a customised portal in Angular, so that these users can access from the internet to initiate the request and leave us the documentation. The communication between the angular portal and appian is done through the WSO2 api manager. The challenge is to get the documentation to Appian and then upload it to sharepoint which is the document manager used by the company, but the appian apis do not allow documents larger than 75 MB, so when they call us from the front end to send us the file, we get an error 413 payload too large.

For scenario 2, I show an image with our idea

The problem we have is that appian does not allow to attach in an interface a file bigger than 1GB, so the applications we want to develop where an appian user needs to attach these large files from an interface, are not being able to be done.

Any ideas ?

External Portal to Appian: Use a cloud storage service like AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage to store files larger than 75 MB. Then, have Appian retrieve the file from the cloud storage and send it to SharePoint.
Appian Interface to SharePoint: Again, use a cloud storage service for files larger than 1 GB. Users upload files to the cloud storage via Appian, and then Appian transfers the file to SharePoint through a web service.

2) how often do you have users needing to attach a file larger than 1GB? Is there any possibility of having files broken up first?
