Hello!

What is your scenario? Why application users should be able to see the number of internal application objects?

Currently, a developer can see the folder content in the designer (.../suite/designer instead of .../suite/design).

For the users there are couple of pickers, like forum.appian.com/.../SAIL_Components.html.

There's a function "getcontentobjectdetailsbyid()". You can try that.
Another function is "getconstantsfromfolder()" to retrieve the constants.

If I understand your requirement correctly, I think you will need to create a custom function using the API to achieve this.

You can navigate through Rules and Constants from the Expression editor. In order to list out how many Appian objects have been created / stored in a folder, you can create a test application using Appian designer and add that folder to your application and do precedents check that will return all objects in the folder. You can filter on various objects inside Appian designer and get the count of individual object.
