this did not work. The assignment still shows whoever designed the model but still we are recieving the mail.

In the assignement tab of the Smart Service "Post Event to Feed" if you select the option "Run as Whoever Designed this process model" then all the users wont get the notification. Only the user who has designed the process model will get those alert mails,this is the only way you can achieve it.

These will need to be disabled on a per user level for all news notifications as far as i know. They cannot be disabled for a particular news item, manually unsubscribing aside.

As a user or viewer in the post event to feed, i do not want the user/viewers to get a notificaiton email saying "a new event has been attributed to you" or "someone commented"

What type of notification are the users receiving? I don't believe any notifications are generated for other users when you add a new post, unless they are added (manually) as participants. The first link ("Feed notifications" section) shows a list of scenarios where a notification is generated for a news feed item.

For existing posts, there is always the option to unsubscribe by clicking the orange [x] on the right of a news post.

I have already checke the links but i dont see an option to suppress the emails without changing the custom proeperties/ using plugins. I want a solution that could be handled from process model. I am using post event to feed smart service
