Thanks - appreciate the feedback / answers. I do think the current message has some inexactness that can lead to questions or occasional confusion for users. Hopefully that enhancement request makes it through in a future release.

I believe that this can be achieved by customising the base product files(jsp files in particular, neither I am aware of the location nor the name of files) but it's not recommended by Appian.

Unfortunately Appian does not allow us to configure that message. An additional pain point is that it will show "you and others" when assigned to a group with only one member. Removing "and others" in that situation has been submitted under enhancement request AN-60841.
