Are there any limitations for a!fileupload() component in Appian,
I've tried uploading a zip folder using this, but I am getting the following error : Could not upload file "abc.zip". Reason: Files without extensions are not permitted on this system.
but the file is of .zip extension, I have checked in admin console as well , and zip is enabled in admin console.

Also, there are more limitations for a!fileupload() component in Appian:-

No built-in versioning – Uploading a file with the same name creates a new document; Appian does not automatically maintain file versions.
No upload progress customization – The upload progress indicator is managed by Appian and cannot be customized.
No resumable uploads – If a large file upload is interrupted, users must restart the upload.

Apart from this there are more limitations such as
1. File Size limitations
2. Appian does not perform antivirus or malware scanning.
3. Users cannot preview files while uploading.
4. Appian does not automatically detect duplicate files.
5. Appian provides a standard upload experience. No Drag-and-Drop Customization.

Hi Mujahid Hussain I got the certificate. send an email to certifications@appian.com regarding the issue you are facing they will reply within 2 business days I got the reply from them arround 2:45AM IST with my certificate copy . Expect the reply from them in US time

ACD101 Exam Completed but Certification/Result Not Visible

hi All! I completed the ACD101: Appian Certified Associate Developer exam on 05/16/2026.

The exam status in the ProctorU portal shows “Fulfilled” ,”but my certification/result is still not visible in my Appian account and not get any score report.

Also, the exam auto-submitted before I manually clicked the final submit button and I got no email for my score or any pop up to show my score while auto submitted.

I already contacted certifications@appian.com and support@appian.com but have not received a response yet since saturday.

Has anyone faced a similar issue before? How long does it usually take for the certification/result to appear?or what step i need to take next?

For Appian Cloud Platform upgradation, you do not need to worry about version update, Appian will take care by itself for the version upgrades but,
there are few things you need to take care are

1. Custom plug-ins as well as Connected Systems

2. App level regression testing

3. Ensure your Appian platform is compatible with the Case Management Studio version you're on, and resolve any design object conflicts before upgrading.

4. Any deprecated features.

a!fileUploadField() does not have any built-in limitation that prevents uploading .zip files. If .zip is allowed in the Admin Console > File Upload settings, the component should accept ZIP files.

The error "Files without extensions are not permitted on this system" typically indicates that Appian is treating the uploaded file (or a file inside the ZIP, if compressed-file inspection is enabled) as having no valid extension. It is not a documented limitation of a!fileUploadField().

Verify the following:

The ZIP file is valid and not corrupted.

The file actually has a .zip extension (not a hidden or double extension).

If "Apply upload settings to contents of compressed files" is enabled, ensure all files inside the ZIP have valid, permitted extensions.

Try uploading a newly created ZIP containing only a simple .txt file to determine whether the issue is specific to the archive.

If a simple, valid ZIP also fails despite the correct Admin Console configuration, it is likely an environment-specific issue , try the same on different envionemnent

DB Tasks Vs Traditional UIT Design

These days I have seen developers moving to using database tasks rather than a traditional User Input Task approach.

What are the possible advantages of using DB tasks in terms of reducing memory footprint, creating short lived processes, performance, concurrency and auditing?

Any way whether a process task report or using DB task, we'll be creating tasks to save task IDs, then how it is different and advantageous in comparison to process task report approach?

I'm going to resurrect this as I see most folks advocating for the OOTB task approach - is this still the favored approach? I've long held that DB tasks are the way to go - especially in regards to scalability and control over the platform. The OOTB tasks may be faster in the short run, but long-term you are going to be paying for it if you find that you do need to transition over the DB tasks. Also - general Appian best practices is to limit the use of long-running processes, which the OOTB task approach can encourage.

All this said because I'm looking for a recipe on how to implement DB tasks easily...

Hi Team,

We have a dashboard where we display Test Cases in a read-only grid. The grid is built using the recordData() function, and we have enabled the “Export to Excel” option provided out-of-the-box. Users are able to click this option and successfully download the Excel file.

As part of our document cleanup process, we are deleting Excel documents generated within the application. Currently, we are able to identify and delete documents that are created via our custom export functionality.

However, we have a question regarding the Excel files generated through the Record Type’s inbuilt “Export to Excel” feature:

Are these exported Excel files stored anywhere in Appian (e.g., in Appian Documents or temporary storage)?
If yes, is there a way to identify and delete them as part of our cleanup process?
Or are these files generated on-the-fly and not persisted in Appian?

Any clarification or guidance on how Appian handles these export files would be very helpful.

I just sat for the exam called ACD101 but have yet to see my certification or grade appear on the portal. Meanwhile, before I hear any further details, I looked up the cheapest assignment helper available.

I am showing few fields from the DSE in a grid and i set a advanced search to filter from the result shown in the grid , now after i set the filter i have to click on the export to excel and it should generate the excel document . the export should have only the fields that i show in the grid and not all the DSE, i have the filtered result to pass , but the function we have support only to export from DSE and not the custom. i tried with PM . but it get stored in Appian folder which does not suffice . can any one suggest how we can export the custom grid with the filtered list as export to excel or csv . Unable to Transfer Certifications and Academy Achievements to Personal Account – Need Guidance

I’m facing an issue with transferring my Appian certifications, Academy Online achievements, and badges from my current organization account to my personal account.

I have already reached out to multiple teams, including Appian Technical Support, Appian Community, Academy Online support, and the Certifications team. I was informed that the request would be resolved within two working days. However, it has been longer than that, and I have not received any proper response or update despite multiple follow-ups.

Has anyone faced a similar issue before? If so, could you please guide me on how to get this resolved or whom to contact for faster support?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently shifted my certifications and achievements from my work account to personal account. I mailed this account - community@appian.com & academyonline@appian.com. Need to register a account with your personal account in appian community . Post that send the mail with below context. It was done for me within hours. Please try and let me know.

I am writing to request assistance with transferring my Appian Community account and associated certifications to a new email address, as I am transitioning from my current organization.

I have already created a new Appian Community account using my new email ID. I kindly request you to merge/transfer my existing account details—including my certifications (L1/L2), badges, and achievements—to this new account.
