Hi I wanted to audit my users in the system - with below attributes wanted to export data - I see there is a global user record where some of data is available but not all the parameters specifically type of user, created and created by - please help with this.

Name, Username, Active or not, Supervisor or not, Supervisor name, created date, created by, type of user basic vs admin user

Is there any property to know, how the user was created (Native or SSO) and what is the login type is being used?

1) Understand the problems to be solved, and implement an Appian application in the style of Appian. Trying to copy a solution from another technology into Appian without adaption is a big risk.

2) Following the above recommendation, the new application and data model might be different than the old one. A typical database + file migration, including data model transformation, is what you are looking into.

Hi Community,

I'm looking for some best approaches, documentation if any for migration strategies. I would need info on below 2 scenarios:

1. Best practices/approach for migrating an application from other technology OnBase to Appian

2. Best practices/approach for migrating data in old application.

Quick pointer on above is much appreciated.

Hi Karthik,

It depends on Application, systems, data. In our case we have followed below approach.

1. Create/Route all new request/application in Appian.
2. Keep the legacy system active untill they finish in progress requests.
3. Shut down loegacy system once all in flight process complete.
4. Migrate data from legacy system to Appian in stages.

It is less risk for complex applications.

The organization I'm working with recently had their Appian environments upgraded to 26.3 and it appears that the documented method for passing formatted text to the MS Word template using the MS 2007 Word Doc from Template smart service no longer works. Before the upgrade, when passing text to the template via the smart service, all newlines (char(10)) were replaced with the Word ML tag <w:br />, which would allow the formatting in the replacement text to be preserved. However since the upgrade, the formatting is lost and the <w:br /> tag is visible in the generated document. Using other formatting characters like <br/> or char(10), char(13) doesn't seem to fix this, how to we proceed from here?

Please open a ticket in myAppian. Support can fix the issue without needing a restart. The issue is well known and has already been addressed and resolved

ACD101 Exam Completed but Certification/Result Not Visible

hi All! I completed the ACD101: Appian Certified Associate Developer exam on 05/16/2026.

The exam status in the ProctorU portal shows “Fulfilled” ,”but my certification/result is still not visible in my Appian account and not get any score report.

Also, the exam auto-submitted before I manually clicked the final submit button and I got no email for my score or any pop up to show my score while auto submitted.

I already contacted certifications@appian.com and support@appian.com but have not received a response yet since saturday.

Has anyone faced a similar issue before? How long does it usually take for the certification/result to appear?or what step i need to take next?

I have a csv string which i am getting it from blueprism through integration. i need to perform some calculation based on this value, i need to iterate this string. but i am unable to iterate its taking as only one string, i want to iterate for each line in this string.

"ABC,ABC,2,06:00:00,18:00:00,0.5,3
XYZ,XYZ,3,06:00:00,18:00:00,0.5,3"

please any suggestions on this.

How can I iterate the whole table for the requirement? How should the syntax be placed for Advanced Dynamic templating plugin. I understand the code how we can loop through the rows in a grid but how can we loop the grid itself? eg: If I have 5 employees under Labor grid I want 5 different grids dynamically created based on syntax!

Tomcat file not opening

I am trying to open tomcat log file from system logs. But I am getting Error 403 - forbidden. Your request could not be processed. Can anyone let me know what might be the reason for this issue??

Case Management Studio

We are currently using Appian Case Management Studio (CMGT) as a base application in our organization. On top of this, several separate applications have been built for different business sectors.

The issue is that each of these applications appears to be using a copied version of the “My Cases” module rather than extending or reusing the core CMGT “My Cases” functionality. This has resulted in multiple duplicated implementations of essentially the same case listing and interaction layer, each diverging slightly per application.

We are trying to understand the best practice for handling this pattern in Appian:

How can we properly extend or customize “My Cases” functionality per application while still relying on the same base CMGT module?
Is there a recommended approach for reusing the CMGT case views (e.g., configuration, overrides, or parameterized interfaces) instead of duplicating the module?
What is the cleanest architecture pattern to avoid multiple forked versions of “My Cases” across applications while still allowing sector-specific requirements?

Any guidance on how to structure this properly within CMGT best practices would be appreciated.

My Knowledge Centers are created at root without any parent community or parent KC, each request has KC created at root dynamically. Around 10,000 + and growing. I want to extract all KC from here, one way is I scan whole environment objects and extract only KC types but not where should I stop the scan or recursive loop.

Any idea about this?

Extract Meta Data of all Documents in Environment

Hi All,

I am looking for best way to extract meta data of all documents that exist on an environment. This I need for migration purpose.

My requirement is to store document details(document id, doc name, parent folder, kc name etc) from all over the environment. This would require traversing through each KCs and find folders and documents recursively.

Has anyone faced such requirement and is there a provision for this to be done OOTB or any best way which won't hamper the environment running status.

Issue with getGridContents() function in 26.3

Hi all,

We recently upgraded to Appian 26.3. During regression testing using Appian Selenium API, our scripts are failing while reading grid data.

The getGridContents() function is not able to read the grid label, although it is able to read the rows and columns. The same script works as expected in Appian 25.4.

Has anyone else faced this issue? I would appreciate any inputs or insights.

FYI, our libraries are up to date.

Are you using gridField or gridLayout? We are using gridLayout and we still facing the same issue.

a!gridField has evolved to a!gridField_26r2 in 26.3, which likely changed the rendering structure causing getGridContents() to lose the grid label reference.
Refer to the Function and Component Versions.
If your Selenium API JAR is already up to date, raise an Support ticket as this appears to be a regression.
