Stefan, you're right. I forgot that the XSD uses mixed content for complex types, which is an unsupported construct for the type system in Appian. Your suggested workaround is good.

The WSDL from SharePoint can not be parsed from Appian. I checked that with Appian PS. So the only way to call these WS is "by-hand".

@Mike, I was referring to the standard SharePoint web services, not the Appian.SharePoint.Lists.asmx?wsdl, which is from the Appian service assembly add-on. Stefan suggested posting a SOAP message to an endpoint that looks like it is from SharePoint's standard out-of-the-box web services, and just looking at the SOAP message, I don't see any reason that Appian Call Web Service smart service wouldn't be able to send that same message. There may be something tricky about the WSDL that I'm missing though.

Hi Brett, the Call Web Service smart service is our preferred solution. The available services via the WSDL are CreateList, DeleteList, GetFolderNames, GetItemIds, GetListInfo, ListExists and Oing. None of which includes something like 'UpdateList' or 'AddListItem'

Hi Mike, we're listening. Did you try the standard SP web service that Stefan suggested using the Call Web Service smart service? Was there an error consuming the WSDL or at runtime? What was the error?

AFAIK there is coming something next year. I created some small utility models that encapsulate the WS calls. This way it is still not a nice solutions but it works.

Thanks, I've given it a quick try and it works. I would have preferred an OOTB solution that works with the Call Web Service Smart Service that way we can progress a 'No Coding' solution. Anyone at Appian listening?

SP then returns some XML which you can parse with xpathsnippet. Using other XML functions than "GetListItems" you can call any function provided by MS.

OK. Using the HTTP request plugin you can call the URL yourSP/.../Lists.asmx. As body of the request you provide something like this

Hi I'm using the Call Web Service Smart Service and then Appian.SharePoint.Lists.asmx?wsdl to connect to Sharepoint and get a list of web services.

Only to be shure. We are talking about the Webservices provided by Microsoft and not the ones from Appian out of the SharePoint Addon.

I do a lot of SharePoint integration but mostly reading items from lists. What version of SP are you running. In 2010 and even better in 2013 there are REST APIs. I am going to do some POCs on the REST interfaces in the comming weeks. But when reading the documentation this should be relatively easy.

So to answer your question: Not OOTB. Use the REST API or the Lists Webservice msdn.microsoft.com/.../lists(v=office.12).aspx
