Sending should no be any problem. Receiving is a different story as Appian does not provide any option to have something open a connection and wait for an event to act on. In the past we created separate integration components which allowed Appian to send/receive messages via HTTPS

Can you foresee any obstacle related to Kafka/Appian that will make it impossible ?

The App Market does not show up anything. Seems like you will need to build something. Can be a plugin or some integration layer which talks HTTPS/JSON to Appian side.
