Thank you for that. Early access is super helpful getting POC of new release possibilities up and running. I can't tell you how much these mean to getting buy-n from client to upgrade sooner.

Certain organizations have signed up for "Early Access". Early Access gets an early sneak peak of the release to prepare their organizations. These organizations are typically Appian partners that are preparing for product launches so that they are ready to sell and implement through their teams. Appian and its customers also benefit from this early feedback. Early Access deployments have limited flexibility on when to receive the release as the timing is critical for the feedback cycle and these instances aren't production usage.

Also when this happens, they sometimes (maybe even always) open a support case to discuss any necessary actions with the support contacts in charge of the environment(s) in question.

In certain cases, I guess it may not be true for everyone, I have previously discovered our cloud environment had already been upgraded before they even made the product announcement.

In general, regardless of whether it's before or after, you don't have to do anything but wait. Your cloud environment upgrades on its own. This is why Appian is so committed to backwards compatibility.

If after a very long time since upgrade was officially announced you still haven't got it, I would consult with Appian support to see if there's some technical or other difficulty keeping them from upgrading your environment.

Check out the Appian Cloud FAQ in the documentation for additional context on how cloud environments are upgraded. You will get notified when your environment(s) can be updated. Generally speaking there is a little big of lag between a release being GA and cloud environments being setup for upgrades.
