In general, local machines are typically NOT accessible from the internat. Even your home router uses a firewall to protect your local network.

And this is not a restriction specific to Appian.

I was facing this on my office laptop, then tried on my personal machine as well and faced the same issue there as well. So I am trying to understand if its limitation of cloud based community version OR am I m missing anything to configure (FYI- I even enabled TCP IP SQL port as well to establish the connection)

Did you check whether your laptop is accessible from the internet? If this is a corporate environment, I am pretty sure it is not.

Yes I am using the cloud community edition and trying to configure the local DB installed on my laptop.

I do not know of any limitations of this kind. Do you use the cloud community edition, or a local installation? Did you check whether that system can access your DB server?
