Hello guys,

I failed for the developer exam for the second time now.

I studied for the Appian developer test for 180 hours, but i still failed the exam TWICE now. I'am lost i feel like i know everything and I felt like my answer wads also right . I just want to review the exam so i can maybe change my studying style. i used the exam checklist, i studied the developer course, i took the practice test so many times and i studied the appian documentation. and refer dumps too I don't know what to do my 2 POC's are live but I don't know why for the second time I just missed with 3 marks

ANY TIPS?

Having two live POCs already demonstrates that you understand real Appian development better than many candidates, and missing by just three marks twice indicates that you are actually very close. Focusing less on dumps and more on the reasons why Appian suggests particular design patterns, expression rules, security settings, and process model behaviors in scenario-based questions was helpful to me. I also started reviewing concise practice explanations from CertifyCerts alongside official docs to identify weak areas instead of only repeating mock tests, and that changed the way I approached tricky questions in the exam.

I also found the Appian-related preparation materials from CertifyCerts not as a shortcut, but mostly to learn how current certification and interview questions are written. Hi All,

I am working on an Expense Reimbursement System POC in Appian.

We have three different user roles: Employee, Manager, and Finance Team, each with separate interfaces. I need to implement an AI chatbot in all three interfaces that can answer user questions based on claim data.

What is the best approach to design and integrate role-specific chatbots in Appian? Should each interface have a separate chatbot configuration, or can we reuse a single chatbot with dynamic context?

Also, how can we ensure the chatbot responds based on the logged-in user’s role and related data?

Use one reusable a!recordsChatField() with role-based record-level security on the Expense Claim Record Type and dynamic additionalInstructions per interface/role. No need for separate chatbot configurations unless each role needs completely different prompts or data sources.

as per your usecase, you can use a single record chat component and UI, and dynamically pass the inputs.

I recommend to use record level security for the record type, ensures chatbot only givws output from which the loggedin user is a member of certain group.

Yes, we can give dynamic context using - Additional Instructions, parameter in the component configuration->Behaviour.

What do you mean by "handle"? You are going to find very few things will touch ".doc", being the old proprietary microsoft word format that was prominent prior to the shift to the OOXML (".docx") open-source format.

From the AppMarket FAQs, go to the AppMarket Submissions site link and log in to the Community with your credentials - you will be redirected to the Appian site for submission.

I have built some application in Appian and want to publish them in Appian App Market. But the Appian App Market Submission site is giving 401 Unauthorized error. I want to know the criteria to access the submission site?

okay...I thought you are using a wrong URL earlier!

The URL you have pasted shows up during SAML authentication before we login to the site.The issue seems with your login rights rather than site in general as I am able to login successfully. To resolve this authentication issue suggest you to drop an email to support@appian.com. They should be able to unblock you.

I have resolved this by with alternative solution, by copying the document into new document with copydocument smart service.

You can also argue doc is not appian supported format for extractions.

The parent process terminates so the subprocesses are ended. If you need anything more detailed than that to happen, then the timers will need to be handled within the child processes will need to take specific action (with their own timer nodes) -- however, you're asking me to fill in details here when you didn't provide the specific requirements. What I've provided above therefore is the simplest normal execution, where the parent process timer simply causes any/all subprocesses to halt when the timer expires.

We have a scenario where Process Model 1 calls Sub‑Process Model 2 in synchronous mode. Sub‑Process Model 2 contains Process 2.1 and Process 2.2.
Normally, these complete within expected time, but if Process Model 2 runs longer than 15 minutes, we want to:
- Terminate Sub‑Process Model 2.
- Mark it as completed so it doesn’t remain in an in‑progress state.

Essentially:
- Process Model 1 (synchronous) → Process Model 2.1 & 2.2.
- If execution exceeds 15 minutes, enforce a timeout, terminate, and mark complete.

Question to the Community:
- What is the recommended way to implement this timeout/termination logic in Appian?
- Is there a best practice for handling long‑running synchronous sub‑processes (e.g., timers, escalation paths, or design patterns)?

Error "The amount of time allocated for the completion of an unattended activity was insufficient to allow the activity to complete."

Add a Timer node for 15 minutes in the child process, then use a gateway so either the work finishes or the timer fires. If the timer wins, terminate the child and return a timeout status to the parent.
