You can do a try on, converting these two documents into PDF and then try using Merge PDF smart service to merge these both PDF files

.doc is an old, proprietary, and closed format. I'd be surprised if there's any automated utility to do it, but if there was it would probably require creation of a custom smart service to do it within Appian.

I tried using the merge docx and I tried merging the doc to docx file but I am not able it, may be I have to modify the plugin based on the requirement.

There is a shared component available which merges two docx files.

forum.appian.com/.../summary

I have not tried to merge doc and docx files. May be you can give a try or modify this plugin based on your requirement.
