I am facing similar type of issue in my plugin . I am trying to use Intellij rather than eclipse , can that induce some issues in my plugin deployment .

The easiest way for me to see what's wrong is if you send me the JAR, the exact same JAR you are willing to deploy (without changing anything) so I can reproduce and analyze it.

To do this let's use an old method to share files:

1. Go to forum.appian.com/.../5946
2. Click on Attachments
3. Follow these instructions forum.appian.com/.../Adding_a_Discussion_Forum_Attachment to upload your JAR
4. Once the JAR is uploaded let me know so I can download it and take a look

it points to correct class from smart service. I have added square bracket instead of actual name space so, it looks like to you. plugin key is also correctly given.
please share me if you think any missing element which needs to appear or else into plugin xml or any other thing i missed into jar file structure which lead this issue.

The appian-plugin.xml definitely looks wrong, if you look at the <smart-service> element it doesn't point to a valid class and the plug-in key has something that looks like a template name rather than an actual package/id name. My suggestion would be to use the Appian Plug-in Creator for Eclipse forum.appian.com/.../Appian_Plug-in_Creator_for_Eclipse

JAR file was generated from eclipse which has below files when extracted:
-com/class files
-meta-inf
-appian-plugin.xml/

Now, after that, i have added java src folder into extracted source and again created jar file using below command:
jar cfM [jar-file] [input folder]
Then again verified by extracting updated jar file through below command:
jar -xf [jar file]

it gives structure as below:
src/...
com/class files
meta-inf
appian-plugin.xml/

can any one suggst whats wrong with this to deploy this jar file.

What's the content of tha XML to make sure it is a valid one?
