Thanks for the support — this actually worked! It seems like it’s indeed a bug in Appian Portals. I just had to unpublish the portal, make my changes, and then publish it again — and it worked.

I have one more troubleshooting step to try:

Unpublish the portal, save, wait a few seconds, and then republish the portal again. If there was a state synchronization issue, this would resolve it. This is rare, but we had some reports of this happening recently and are deploying a hotfix to prevent it.

Hi Harsha,

Sorry about the confusion — I know the information I shared may seem a bit unclear, as I’ve been running several tests trying to solve the issue using different service accounts.

Here’s the context:
For the portal, I currently have a service user called portalSMA. I also have a group named portalSMA Service Account, which includes both the portalSMA user and a new service account I'm testing with.

For the folder and the constant, I’ve assigned this group with Editor permissions. In the portal’s security settings, I’ve also added the group with Viewer permissions. Same for the interface.
I also have a process that I want to start from this interface, so I’ve granted the group Initiator permissions on that process as well.

The problem is that I can’t even reach the process — the file upload component itself throws the error right away.

Hi Victor The service account you have in Portal is 'NewPortalAccount' but in the security permissions added to target folder / constants etc you are granting permission to 'portalSMAServiceAccount'. You should use one service account for the Portal as well as underlying objects permission. So try to change the service account in portal to 'portalSMAServiceAccount' and then check.

Hi Peter, I've already checked the portal log files, but there are no errors, because it's an error directly in the component when I try to upload a document, I thought it was a permissions issue, but the strange thing is that the editor permissions for the Portal Services Account are already there.

Hmmm, I'm not sure then - do you see anything in the logs? (Either the tomcat.stdout log or the portals logs (from the design object)?

Two other things just to confirm (since I didn't see them in your steps):

Do you have the service account configured in your portal?
Is your service account user in the Service Accounts system group?
