hi are you aware that process mining is not a term appian is really promoting any more and rather evolved into "Process HQ" ("process insights" part of it)?

I think the courses are discontinued and removed from Academy. None of the old links are valid now. Better to drop a mail to academyonline@appian.com regardign this.

Root Cause Analysis:

The process model was deleted on 30th September. The last successful run occurred on September 28th. After that, the scheduler task updated the next run date to October 5th. However, since the process model was no longer present in the environment, the system attempted to run it 26 times this Sunday, and failed each time, and eventually terminated the instance.

Hi All,

We had a process model in Appian that was scheduled to send a report every Sunday at 11:59 PM.

Later, we discovered an issue with the report it was generating. Due to business requirements, we exported the process model, saved it locally, and then deleted it from Appian.

I had assumed that the scheduled activities were tied directly to the process model, so deleting it would stop the scheduled execution. However, this Sunday, we received an error stating:

Problem: An error occurred in executing an Activity Class.

Details: Process Model has been deleted. Process designer could not be retrieved

Recommended Action: Examine the activity class to correct the error and then resume.

Can anyone please help me to understand this scenario?

Looks you have deleted a subprocess of scheduled process not the scheduler process model. Can you share the screenshot of error instance?

This looks more like a scheduled node, than a scheduled process model.

Deleting the process model doesn't cancel already running instances. Your scheduled task created an active instance before deletion, which tried to run Sunday and failed.
Go to Monitor find Process Instances and check the orphaned instance, and cancel it.

When you say Data Steward group - actually it is not a group its a permission level. You can check if you added user/group with Data Steward as permission to Record type.

Also the other groups - 'Process HQ Users', 'Data Governers' and 'Data Fabric Report Creators' - are system groups. Hope you have used the same groups to add yourself into and not created additional groups yourself! Can you confirm if your configuration matches this

I am trying to enable Process insights and Data governance in Dev environment. I have added "Data Fabric Report Creators" and "Data Governors" group to "Process HQ Users Group". In the required records and event history record security I have added "Data Steward" group.

Is this any setting/prerequisite I am missing to enable Process insights and Data governance in Process HQ?

To enable Data Governance add yourself or appropriate users to the Data Governors group.

To enable Process Insights The user should be in the Process HQ Users System Group.

I suggest you add an xor node between the Execute SP node and sync record node. Put condition in the xor to check whether the cdt or value in field 'rowId_int' is null or not.

or(pv!CR_APP_EntityRating,a!isNullOrEmpty(property(pv!CR_APP_EntityRating,"rowId_int",{})))

If its true then process should skip the sync record node else it should flow into it.

Note: If you have a record then accordingly provide the record field reference for rowId_int instead of "rowId_int" within the property() function in XOR condition.

To compare two records and check if they've changed, save your old record in existingRecord and the updated record in newRecord.
Use the symmetricdifference() function to compare fields - it returns empty when values are identical.

Added below code just for reference.

If you are able to identify if no changes made to data then you can simple by pass using xor.
Do you want to know how to identify data changed?
