Seems like the user is not part of the groups defined in the Process model security, please add him to the group.

Please add that user to group which has Viewer rights to process model.

Hi Tony,
When you say "when trying to follow a link to his task", does it mean that there is link in a email from where user is trying to open a task?
Is it possible to check that task is visible under task tab for a user?
Issue is clearly related to access.

Hi Tony,

Have you checked if the user is in one of the groups that has permissions in the process model for the task?

You may just need to add the user to a group that can see the process model.
