I am new to Appian and new to existing application in our organisation . I would like to understand the existing process model. So for that i would like to debug the process model . IN order to do that in debug mode can I dubug it node by node level

RE: debug process model node by node

In debug mode, your process will allow you to monitor the instance as it moves through the nodes. Start your process model in debug mode and observe the documentation report as well as the variables updation.

Before Debugging of process model, you can have a look in to the process model Documentation, where you can find the Each and every configuration node by node, so you can get big picture of whole Design, so it is easy to understand while debugging the whole flow.
So while debugging you get whole details in "Process Details" tab.

click on check box of process model-------> select more option-----> click on view documentation

Spend some time on the process model and get an idea about the functionality of each node by looking at the node name and description. A process model might be connected to many individual objects of the project. In order to get a good understanding of process model, go through the outline of the project, functionality of each object, structure of database etc.., as process model is the intersection of all the objects and the last one to understand. If you already have a good idea about everything else, you can understand by using debug mode as others suggested.
PS: Try to find someone who knows about the application, if you can. This will give you a better understanding and saves you time. If you can't find anyone it takes time but trust me you will learn a lot.
Hope this helps. All the best.

Running Your Process in Debug Mode
With the process open in the Process Modeler, click File > Save & Publish.
Click File > Start Process for Debugging.
For each attended node, right-click the node and select View Task Form.
Complete the form and click Submit. Any errors are displayed. If your forms are Activity-Chained, the subsequent form is displayed. If the Activity-Chain enters a Sub-Process node, the sub-process opens in a new tab.
View the task form for each attended node in your process.
Viewing Process Errors in the Process Modeler
While viewing a process instance in the modeler, you can view error messages for any problems that have occurred in the process to assist in debugging.

RE: debug process model node by node

Hi Shrirangh,

You can work in debug mode inside your process modeler: File -> Start debugging mode, and you can start whatever node that you want with right click on the and selecting ''start'', and for example, if it is an imput task you can start it and fill the form and then submit it. Then you can start the next node manually. This option is very helpful to see errors and the flow of the process.

If you want to understand the existing process model you can do it via process model documentation which you can find by clicking on Tools> Documentation from the process model.

If you want to debug the process model instance then you can monitor the process and view the process history details. which provides you the details of when the nodes were executed, what inputs were passed and what outputs are received.

Thanks,

What exactly that you are trying to debug? You just wanted to check the flow how it works or the each node and what it does. If yes you can just the documentation of process model part of it like, If there is a script task and it is doing some modifications to some variables then you can see what variable it is changing through the config or set place to see is process model documentation level.

If you want to see the data after running that node then you can see the process history (you can see this once process is triggered) where you can see run time modifications of the data and all.

Hope this may help.
