Hi Mike,

We have configured custom sender in email configuration as below in 18.4 version. But when the actual mail is received in outlook it is in the below format.

admin@xxxdev.appiancloud.com on behalf of "Test Email Sender" <ABC@xyz.com> rather than "Test Email Sender" <ABC@xyz.com>

Please share a screenshot of your node configuration, because the output you report is not what i experience in my environment. In mine, the only thing displayed is "Custom Sender Name <Sender Email>". I guess there could be some environmental configuration on yours that affects this but i have no idea what.

You are absolutely correct, this is working when I used toemailaddress(lower(Harsha.Viriyala@abc.com))

However i am getting the mail in such a way that,admin@xxxdev.appiancloud.com on behalf of "Custom Sender Name" <Email address>

Actually my requirement from business is that, my From should be only like this "Custom Sender Name" <Email address>

Not on behalf, so for acheiving this again i need to raise a support ticket and get the from address added or is there a way in 18.4
Any thoughts on this.

After a bit of troubleshooting this myself, it looks as if the Sender Email Address field breaks the Send Email node if it's passed an email address containing any upper-case characters. This seems like it would be a pretty severe bug on the Appian side, assuming I'm correct in my assumptions so far (though as it's a brand new feature this is understandable). But in the mean time, if you can confirm this is the source of your error, I believe passing the sender email address through the "lower()" function should be sufficient to fix this until the bug can be addressed.

Can you provide a screenshot and/or more detail about how you've configured it? I haven't tried this new functionality yet myself but i'm looking forward to using it in a few places.

Edit to add: as a first line of troubleshooting, please make sure the sender email address you're passing in is wrapped in the function toEmailAddress(), since Appian has some weird data type specificity in the Send Email node that causes unexpected errors when plaintext is passed in.
