Unable to re-trigger or test one of the Robotic Tasks

I have many robotic tasks, all of them runs when triggered either from process or by Re-execution or By TEST button, but one of the Robotic tasks which was executing previously has stopped triggering from process model, the process model gets stuck at the robotic tasks node without any errors and fails with timeout after long time. Re-execution of the previous instances is also not triggering any new instance for this robotic tasks alone.

Appian RPA - working with Excel

I have a question related to "Appian RPA - working with Excel": is the set of activities powerful enough?

I have a project that requires specific activities in a few Excel files:

-renaming a sheet

-adding/removing a sheet

-applying sorting

-transferring (copy and paste) data from one sheet to another one in the same Excel documents and between documents

-searching in a column for the first file name (the column has files names in it) that has or not an extension (".txt" for example).

etc etc etc

Can the Appian "working with Excel" set of activities powerful enough? Did somebody have something that couldn't be implemented (lack of functionality maybe)?

I have to choose between "Appian RPA" and "MS power automation", I don't want to start with "Appian RPA" and to realize afterwards that it cannot do this and that, etc.

Unable to login using RPA

Hi All,

I have recorded an RPA to Login to Appian

I have configured credentials. Screenshots are below

When I start Testing the RPA running and opening the url in the browser, but Username and password are not set

After sometime I'm receiving this the below error(attached) and task is terminating.

Please suggest some solutions and let me know if you need anything else

Start a Robotic Task by whoever started the process

Hi everyone,

We have an application where business users can start a process using a Start Process Smart Service from the application site. The process model includes an Execute Robotic Task node, which is currently configured to “Run as whoever designed this process model”.

This configuration is required because the process is initiated by basic business users whose usernames are not available in the Appian RPA users list. As a result, setting the node to “Run as whoever started the process” causes the robotic task execution to fail.

Is there any supported way to configure the Execute Robotic Task node to run as “whoever started the process” by changing any other configuration in robotic task/RPA?

By default the Appian RPA designer doesn't come with a "code" activity (?)

By default the Appian RPA designer doesn't come with a "code" activity (in Java I assume) that would give me full power on implementing whatever I want to do, am I right?

Do you guys have any suggestions? what can I do to come up with full programming power?

Credentials error when exporting a robotic task

I would like some help on how to use wildcards when search for a window, so the RPA can search for explorer and select the first window (index 0) when recording it ask for a complete name if I enter * in the text and modify the Name to search it enter the * as string.

Multibot in Appian RPA

I know about Appian queues, etc related to multibot configuration.

However when I compare how UIPath queues work (in a reFramework configuration we first load data in the queue - using what we call a "dispatcher" - and each record is locked during processing using what we call a "performer") and I compare this with Appian queues I have a feeling that there is something that I miss.

Can somebody provide more details about it?

Can a user with Basic Access initiate an RPA task in Appian

Hi All,

I have the following question and would appreciate any suggestions:

I am trying to start an RPA task using a test user who has Basic User access in the environment. However, the robotic task does not start. If I use a user with System Administrator access and who is also part of the RPA Operation Console group, the task starts successfully.

As developers, we need System Administrator access for development purposes, but real-time users should only have Basic User access. I have also added the test user to the RPA task’s permission tag and included the permission tag of what the RPA task has for the respective user in the Appian RPA group. Despite this, the RPA instance is still not triggered.

So, my question is:
Is it possible for a user with Basic User access in the environment to start/trigger an RPA task? If yes, what configuration or permissions are required to make this work?

Hi All,

We are facing an issue while Deploying an RPA task to UAT Environment(Attaching screenshot). And also in the UAT environment on open of an Operation Console we retrieved java.lang.RuntimeException: Retrieving resource failed, status code: 500. Because of this the deployment errors out?

Please let me know if any one knows the reason.

I need clarity on the specific installation and configuration requirements for the RDP Agent when running an attended bot on a VDI where:

The user must be physically logged into the VDI session
The bot interacts with a browser to access an external site
The user manually enters personal credentials (not stored in Appian) + uses a prox card for 2FA
The user clicks a button in Appian to trigger the bot
(Note: Other use cases run different scripts on the same bot in unattended mode)

Question: How does the attended, user-present requirement change the RDP Agent installation, VDI setup, and bot configuration compared to a standard unattended setup? Specifically:

RDP Agent install location (user profile vs. machine-wide)?
VDI session requirements (persistent? console vs. RDP? interactive session needed?)
Browser automation (does the browser need to run in the user’s session? Any restrictions with Chrome/Edge in VDI?)
Prox card 2FA handling (can the bot wait/pause for user input during authentication?)
Security/permissions (does the agent need to run as the logged-in user?)

Assistance Required: Executing PowerShell Script via Appian Robotic Task

Hi All,

We are currently facing a technical challenge while trying to execute a PowerShell script (.ps1 file) on a robot's virtual machine using Appian robotic task. The script is stored in a shared drive location that the robotic task has access to.

Our goal is to run the script using the “Run with PowerShell” option. However, we are unable to identify any built-in robotic action within Appian RPA that allows us to execute a PowerShell script directly on the robot’s VM.

If you are aware of any solution, workaround, or best practice to achieve this, your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to assign the unique creds to each bot and then each time when different bots runs the same robotic task it logins with different creds do we have any workarounds for this?

How to save a web page as PDF using Appian RPA?

Hi All,

We have a requirement such that, RPA bot need to open a record details in a web page then, save that details page (webpage) as PDF. We are trying to use keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+P' to open the print window, where there is option to 'Save as PDF' but, the robotic task is not able to capture any action in that print window.

Could you please tell me how to overcome this issue? I just need to save the webpage as PDF in the bot machine's download folder.
