Hi Snehab,

If i have a similar request like your example but i want to show the quick task link in entity backed record, is there a way to do this?

Users do not get notified for quick tasks.

If the user closes the task, generally speaking, they can't get back to it again, but that's a benefit of this paradigm. Let's focus on related actions specifically:

If a quick task is tied to a related action, then a user shouldn't be accessing the "previous" quick task. The latest initiation of the related action ("newest" quick task) would have the most up-to-date data associated with a record, which is what a user should typically be acting upon. If you need to access a workflow started X days ago, then I would suggest staying with normal tasks.

if user closes the task then how will that user will get the task again?
because if he try from related action he will get the new task....what about the previous task?

Hi Shweta,

Example:
Consider you have initiated the process of applying for loan.
Your entered all the required details and submitted the form.
If you want to modify some detail then you can use a Quick Task (i.e. Related Action of Process backed record) to edit the data in the running instance (i.e. Process Backed Record), rather than initiating a new process instance.
Once the loan is approved by the approver, the Quick task can be disabled so that user cannot modify any thing in that instance.

Quick tasks were majorly used in earlier Appian versions when Tempo & Records were not available.

if Quick task do not show up as tasks in Tempo->Tasks, then where does the task go, and how do user get notified for same?

Please correct me if am wrong, so you mean to say here we can create a quick task if we don't want the task to appear in the User's task queue .

Lets say you have an action or related action. On kick starting the process, a task is assigned to a user(activity chained) and you do not want the task to be in user's tasks queue even though the users does not completes the task(By closing the browser tab like that). This case can be achieved by making the user input task as a quick task.

Hi,
In Tempo, Quick Tasks appear as related actions under Process Backed Records. A new instance of the task is automatically generated after one is completed.

Like other tasks, quick tasks are not required to have an incoming flow, but they must have an outgoing flow.
If a quick task does not have an incoming flow it is activated immediately upon startup of the process.

Once a quick task has been enabled, it can be disabled in one of the following ways:
1.Configure an exception flow.
2.Make an in-flight modification to the process, in case no exception flow was configured or you wish to stop the Quick Task manually.

A process containing quick task will be completed only when the flow hits Terminate event.

Hi Preji,

As far as I know quick task is an attended activity which is activated and completed outside of fixed process flow. They are initiated on an ad-hoc basis and a new instance of the task is automatically generated after one is completed. Any attended process activity can be configured as a Quick Task.When a task is configured as a quick task, existing forms and data configurations are preserved.
You can also add a Quick Task when editing a running process.

The most common use cases are :
1. Related Actions for process backed records.
2. First task when starting a process that has an exception flow to time out. This hides the task fro the task list so that a user will not see task list grow and shrink when starting/completing an action, but has a defined time to complete, as if they walk away from this task, they will not be able to get back to it.

Quick Tasks are useful for completing ad-hoc tasks in process, and for enabling additional related actions on a Process-backed record. They were more relevant in Appian prior to the introduction of Records, but have a few use cases in the latest Appian versions.

I'd start by reading up on docs.appian.com/.../Process_Model_Recipes.html to understand the basics. This is also good background: docs.appian.com/.../Create_a_Record_Type.html

Quick tasks will not show up as tasks in Tempo->Tasks. Some designers use this behavior to hide tasks in a workflow, but they must take care to close these tasks appropriately.
