I think wizard style interface might be the best approach, and I'm pretty sure patterns pallete has a couple of lightweight implementations you can alter and add your particulars to.

There are main scenarios:
1.) You use showwhen conditions and everytime you click on a element on the navigation bar, you show and hide different elements of your UI but you stay in the same form/User input task -> element of choice:

2.) You submit every time you navigating the current form you are on. so you lead the user from form to form.

In Appian, you either implement a wizard style interface, or multiple separate interfaces in a process. With enabled chaining in the process model the used will be directly forwarded to the next interface.
