&lt;p&gt;Either reference should be perfectly happy to live in a local variable, but as is always good practice, you should test it out to make sure, that it works the way you need it to.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
