You can use rich text with a link that saves the identifier and the column number in a variable. Now using this combination clubbed with the cell background color, you can create an experience as if the cell is selected.

I don't think there is an option to do that in a Read only grid. Currently we can only select the complete row. Have you tried or explored any methods using an editable grid and achieve this?
