I was thinking of using that plugin, though for running processes we would like to keep the existing empty folders for now. I'm concerned with the mismatch between claimed folder size and the files inside. 10-100mb folders with zero files or a single 100k file is worrisome.

fyi, I highly suspect that most of these folders are from multiple months ago and the parent processes that created them have long since ended and been auto archived. Could this combined with the server upgrades cause the folders to appear to be orphaned?
