@lakshmim and @chandrasekharg Thanks for the input. Changing process security resolves the issue, I am able to restrict reassign to assignee of Group z only. I am able to reassign only once. Once reassigned, not able to reassign again

Okay, next thing to check is process security. According to the documentation, users with "Manager" privileges or higher (Editor or Administrator) will always be able to reassign tasks. forum.appian.com/.../Assignment_Tab.html

I am opening the task and trying to reassign with basic user. It shows both the option
a) Choose from all assignees
b) choose from all users and groups

When you're opening the task, are you using a basic user account or a system administrator account? System Admin accounts will allow you to reassign to anyone no matter the process node setting. If you test it as a basic user then you should see the correct reassignment options.
