Symptoms

After successfully adding a SAML Identity Provider and verifying access, the administrator sees the following error when clicking Save Changes:

The System Has Encountered an Error
HTTP Code: 500
APNX-1-4198-019

An Error Has Occurred
Expression evaluation error at function a!adminRouter: An error occurred while executing a save: java.lang.RuntimeException: FriendlyName '' is not unique

Cause

Multiple SAML Identity Providers have a blank Web Address Identifier. The Web Address Identifier cannot be shared or left blank across multiple SAML Identity Providers.

A request to include a validation and more descriptive error message has been submitted to the Appian Product Team. The reference number for this request is AN-118063.

Action

Assign a unique Web Address Identifier to each Identity Provider.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 17.3 and later using multiple SAML Identity Providers.
