KB-1902 Custom data type descriptions do not update upon patch deployment

This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptom

When deploying a patch containing a custom data type (CDT) with an updated description, the target Appian environment still reflects the previous description after deploying the patch.

For example, if one were to update the description of a CDT from "02/02/2018: Created data type" to "02/02/2018: Created data type; 02/02/2019: Data type still maps correctly to database" in a development environment, the testing environment where the patch is deployed would still reflect only "02/02/2018: Created data type" as the CDT's description.

Cause

This occurs when the change in the object's description is the only change to the CDT. This issue has been addressed via AN-93123 in the following hotfixes/versions:

Action

Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Workaround

Manually modify the description in the target environment.
