KB-2112 "response.text is not a function" error thrown on front-end UI

Symptoms

While using Appian, the following pink box error is thrown:

An Error Has Occured
response.text is not a function

Cause

There is a communication issue between the end user's browser client and the Appian server(s).

Action

Troubleshoot the integrity and performance of the network connection between afflicted end users and the Appian server(s). Network captures will likely only show incomplete responses when the issue is reproduced, so investigation of this issue requires an analysis of network packet flow between the two endpoints.
