Symptoms

When an environment is accessed on Internet Explorer versions prior to Internet Explorer 11, the following message appears on top of the browser window:

Your browser is out of date. Please upgrade to the latest Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox browser. (Dismiss).

Cause

Either Compatibility View in the browser settings is enabled for that particular environment's URL, or your browser is out of date. Check the System Requirements page for more information.

Action

If your browser version is supported for the version of Appian you're running, perform the following steps to prevent the message from re-appearing:

Open Internet Explorer.

Press the Alt key to display the Menu Bar or right-click the Title Bar and then select Menu Bar.

Click Tools, and then click Compatibility View settings.

Remove your Appian site from the list or disable the setting altogether by clearing the Display intranet sites in Compatibility View checkbox.

Workaround

Click the Dismiss button to remove the message for the ongoing session. Opening a new tab or window should not display the browser message.

Affected Versions

This article applies to all versions of Appian using Internet Explorer as a web browser.
