Symptoms

Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) configured with Appian AI fails on functionality that calls Google AI APIs.

Testing the Google Cloud Document AI connection in the Document Extraction section of the Admin Console results in the following error:

Cause

The allocated budget for the configured project has been exceeded. The project will remain in this state until the allocated budget is reset on the first day of the following month.

Appian sends out email alerts to your organization's Account Administrator when a project's budget has reached 50%, 90% and 100% of its allocated budget.

Action

Wait for the budget to be reset at 10:00 AM ET on the first day of the following month, which will re-enable the project.

On IDP 1.4 or later, budget usage can be decreased using the following methods when using Google AutoML for document classification:

Deactivate document channels that are no longer needed (and reactivate them when needed again)
Permanently delete AutoML models associated with document channels using IDP utilities (Administrators only)

Your Appian Account Executive can also assist with increasing the allocated budget for a project.

Affected Versions

To decrease budget usage in the future when using Google AutoML for document classification, users can deactivate a document channel, and reactivate the channel when it's needed again, if using IDP 1.4 or later.

Administrators can also permanently delete AutoML models associated with document channels using IDP utilities.

An organization's Appian Account Executive can assist with increasing the allocated budget for a project.
