Symptoms

System administrators are able to see site pages even though site visibility is set to false.

Cause

This issue has been hotfixed via AN-128790 in the following versions:

20.4.600.0
21.1.275.0
21.2 GA

Action

For Appian versions 20.4 and later, apply the latest hotfix. For Appian versions 20.3 and earlier, upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Workaround

Self-Managed

Set the following property in custom.properties: appian.feature.sitePageVisibilityAppliedToSysAdmin.enabled=true

Cloud

Open a case with Appian Technical Support to have the above property enabled.

Symptoms

Admin users are able to see site pages even though site visibility is set to false.

Other environments may behave as expected, where Admin users cannot see site pages with site visibility set to false.

Cause

The change in site visibility was introduced via AN-128790 in Appian 20.4.600.0 and 21.1.275.0.

Workaround

In order to prevent backwards compatibility, the legacy behavior may be changed by enabling the following feature toggle in custom.properties. This will cause site visibility to be applied to system administrators.

sitePageVisibilityAppliedToSysAdmin.enabled=true

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 21.1.275.0 and earlier and 20.4.600.0 and earlier.

In other environments, Admin users cannot see site pages with site visibility set to false.

Cause

This is expected behavior. Site visibility applies to system administrators on new environments.

Workaround

To update the legacy behavior, the following feature toggle can be enabled through custom.properties. This will cause site visibility to be applied to system administrators.
